Career Opportunities for Graduates of the Graduate Program

Students usually prepare for careers in basic and applied nutrition research in universities, government agencies, and private industry; college teaching; industry, community, and public health nutrition education and intervention Programs; animal industries; and dietetics.

Other career opportunities are emerging that are based on competency in nutrition and that draw on the disciplines of food science, anthropology, health planning administration, agricultural economics, genetics, poultry and dairy science, human development, business communications, and education.

Graduate students are encouraged to talk with their faculty advisor and committee members about potential career opportunities in their area of specialization. Students will be guided by the graduate faculty in designing a program of study that will help to develop the knowledge and skills appropriate to their career and professional objectives.
